Working at Height is always a significant risk on-site. In 23/24, the HSE recorded 138 deaths in work-related accidents – and the leading cause of fatalities in work-related accidents is falls from height. There were 50 fatal falls from height in this period, be it on construction sites, groundworks, roofing, farming – a whole wide variety of industries. Temporary Edge Protection
Temporary edge protection is a run of mesh barriers and posts fixed along an open edge, such as a slab edge, roof slab, stairwell or excavation, to stop people and materials falling while the work goes on. HERMEQ's mesh barrier system is tested to EN 13374 and is a standard Z-type design, compatible with other Z-type systems, and each panel is galvanised and then powder coated against corrosion on site and in storage.A set of attachments fixes the posts to concrete slabs, steel frames, timber formwork, sheet piling and bridge decks. The horizontal wires run in a 3-2-2 configuration above a toe board, so the panel holds back materials striking it as well as a person falling against it.

Crane Lifting Equipment
Crane lifting equipment from HERMEQ lifts and moves heavy loads on construction, industrial and material-handling sites, from wet concrete and spoil to brick packs, tools and operatives. Temporary Stairs & Bridges
HERMEQ temporary stairs and bridges give a fixed walking route between levels and across gaps on sites where people work at height. The range covers modular steel stairways, folding stairways, spiral staircases, a modular stair tower and pedestrian bridges for moving between scaffold lifts, floor slabs, embankments and platforms.Non-slip treads give firm footing in wet and muddy conditions, and the flights have handrails or integral guardrails. The units connect to one another and fix to scaffolding, concrete or the ground. They link scaffold decks, give interim access between floors while a building goes up and carry foot traffic over trenches on construction, civils, maintenance and industrial work.

Fall Arrest Systems
A fall arrest system stops a worker who falls from height before they strike the ground or the structure below. The range also covers restraint, which keeps a worker from reaching the edge at all, and recovery equipment that brings a worker who has fallen back to safety. HERMEQ supplies davit systems, restraint kits and tripods alongside fall arrest kits, retractable fall arrest blocks, formwork posts and overhead anchors, with options for each stage of construction work.The kits are made up for construction, with harness, lanyards and hooks packed together, and steel karabiners are supplied for connecting components into a complete system. For transport and haulage, a freestanding overhead anchor protects drivers and loaders working on trailer beds.

Safety Harnesses and Lanyards
The HERMEQ safety harness and lanyard range covers the personal fall protection worn for working at height: the full body harness, the lanyard that connects it to an anchor, and the karabiners and hooks at the anchor end. It includes single point, 2-point, 3-point and 4-point harnesses, a rescue harness, shock absorbing fall arrest lanyards, restraint lanyards and a work positioning lanyard.The equipment is used on scaffolding, roofs and inclines, fixed ladders, lattice steelwork, cherry pickers and in confined spaces. The lanyards come in webbing or kernmantle rope, in single and Y forked versions, and harness and lanyard kits are in the fall arrest systems range.

Temporary Handrail Systems
HERMEQ handrail systems build temporary guardrail at the open edges of roofs, slabs, scaffolds and working platforms for contractors, roofing firms and facilities teams. The range starts with the SG4 guardrail system on Shorguard Shoe feet, a fully galvanised free standing rail that goes up without any fixings into the building. For rails connected to a scaffold or structure, galvanised high yield scaffold tube builds a standard temporary handrail. It is joined with scaffold fittings or Kee Klamp type fittings, which are the simplest ways to connect a run of tube.
