Rubber Mulch

HERMEQ Rubber Mulch is a recycled rubber surfacing option for playgrounds, gardens, landscaping projects, pathways, and outdoor areas across Ireland. Made from shredded rubber tyres, it offers a low-maintenance alternative to bark or loose-fill surfacing and is available in a range of colours for practical and decorative applications.
Recycled Rubber Mulch is a cost-effective and eco-friendly rubber surfacing product which creates a safe, free-draining area for playground, landscaping, recreational and garden outdoor areas. The recycled rubber tyres produce a soft, impact-absorbing effect and give your play area a vibrant feel to enhance its surroundings with its natural bark-like appearance.

In addition to this, our shredded rubber mulch is covered in a durable PU coating to prolong its lifespan. It is very easy to install by simple being laid and levelled out with a trowel on almost any surface such as grass or soil and there is minimal disruption to the existing ground when doing so. Mulch is a free draining surfacing product which allows for rain and surface water to drain naturally to the ground below.

Once mixed with a resin binder and laid, it creates a strong surface which can support wheelchairs.

Installation:

• Prepare your ground – ensure it has been exacated to the correct depth and levelled
• Prepare edging boundary to prevent mulch being installed outside site bounds
• Lay a woven membrane over your area to prevent weed growth
• Add bags of mulch into foreced action mixer – then add your binder and mix for 4-6 minutes to ensure all material has been covered
• Transfer mixer material over to a wheelbarrow before pouring into required area and spread using hand trowels with downward pressure.
• Once installed, the area should cure after 24 hours, however don't use until at least 72 hours have passed.

Recommended Maintenance:

• use appropriate footwear when standing and walking on the mulch – stilettos and studs can damage its surface
• leaves and debris must be swept from the surface
• clean using hot water and soap to remove stains and mud to prevent moss, algae and build-up of vegetation
• remove any singular weeds or plants by hand – groups of weeds must be removed using domestic weed killer (and not oil-based weed killers)
• re-coat the surface routinely to cover mulch and prevent colour marking on users
